NewCo's Cheap Air Flights NorthWest Airline Is A Bargain!
|
When looking for
cheap air flights NorthWest airline tickets under their subsidiary,
NewCo, could be the new great bargain. NewCo would operate
70-100 seat jets out of Northwest's main hubs in Detroit, Minneapolis
and Memphis, and serve destinations across the U.S. and Canada.
"Establishing a NewCo subsidiary to operate a fleet of new
regional jets will generate new economic value for Northwest, lower
costs, increase our load factors and provide new work opportunities
for our employees," said Doug Steenland, CEO, in the newsletter.
Unlike other low-cost airlines, such as Delta Air Lines’ Song and
United Airlines' Ted, NewCo would operate as a separate company from
the financially troubled company. Northwest is currently losing
revenue and struggling to compete with its budget rivals. The airline
has claimed that it can no longer afford to fly large (and
increasingly half-empty) planes, and it hopes that the new low-fare
airline will allow it to serve hundreds of destinations efficiently.
If approved, the airline will launch some time next year and intends
to fly 105 jets by 2010. Details of proposed route schedules are not
yet known.

In an effort to
increase passengers NorthWest Airline is rolling out its Coach Choice
seat program after initial trials proved popular. Under the Coach
Choice seat program passengers are given the option of paying an extra
$15 to reserve aisle and exit-row seats to give travelers more seating
options for a small fee. According to the Detroit Free Press, the
airline detailed the plans in a message to employees, which also
explained that an extra $15 million would be raised each year as a
result of the Coach Choice seat program. Coach Choice allows customers
who buy their tickets late and check in 24 hours prior to departure,
the option of a roomier seat for an extra $15. Exit-row seats can
offer up to ten inches more legroom than regular coach seats.
Currently only five per cent of coach-class seats are available under
the plan. Fast-moving fliers can still secure a seat with extra
legroom at no extra charge.
