Cheap Flights Hong
Kong: East Meets West!
|
After
choosing from the many available cheap flights Hong Kong has to offer
you will discover upon your arrival that Hong Kong is a convergence of different peoples
and cultures where East meets West. Hong Kong was a colony of Britain for the past
one hundred years, and just recently handed back to China. Hong Kong operates as
its own country, even though it is technically under the territories
of China. This gives the country many of the positive aspects of
mainland China while being easily accessible to visitors. The previous
hundred years under British rule has made Hong
Kong the most suitable place for Westerners to visit. The official language in Hong Kong
is
English, and recently Chinese has been added. The road signs, train
stations, everything is in both Chinese and English and almost
everyone in Hong Kong speaks
English. Despite the strong English influence, Hong Kong has
kept its
Chinese traditions and culture while adopting
the best of Britain's influence.
The airport and public transportation are very modern and easy to
use. The cab drivers are generally very
helpful, polite, and efficient. An Octopus
pass is a terrific way to get around the city. It saves
finding correct fare and can be used on taxis, trams, buses, ferries,
7 eleven and other outlets.
The Tram provides
cheap transport on Hong Kong Island. Its slow but provides plenty of
camera opportunities. A must visit is the Peak. Stunning views
and shopping. If you are in good shape and enjoy a strenuous hike,
walk up Old Peak Road to the Peak. The views are beautiful and once you
reach the top, visit Cafe Deco...great look-out point at night...ask for
a table along the windows.
If
you look across the sea from Hong Kong island to Tsim Tsa Tsui it is
certainly the most spectacular view you will ever see. The Star
Ferry is a good way over to Kowloon and Tsim Sha Tsui. Plenty of sights to
see and excellent restaurants abound.
For
something a little off the beaten path try a trip to Silvermine Beach on Lantua Island.
Lantau Island offers a glimpse of what the area was
like before development. A very quiet seaside location with easy access to the Big Buddah,
Disneyland, Hong Kong & Kowloon.
